Witty Nothings

Why is it when you set out to write something witty, nothing witty flies through your head? I decided to start a blog to get the ol' creative juices flowing, but I think that the juices have congealed over the years! Once upon a time I was a wonderful writer and poet...did I just have more material in my teenage angst and now in my mature motherhood and wifedom I cannot find anything to inspire me? "What could be more inspiring than motherhood?" I ask myself. Plenty of others find a plethora of inspirational material from their little munchkins.

Tonight I sit here as I put the two oldest to bed (ages 5 and 3) and listen as they giggle way past their bedtime. Swift retribution is what they need but somehow I cannot motivate myself to crack down in disciplinary fashion when their laughter is floating down the hall.

Our family has recently survived the dreaded flu that is being passed about in our neck of town. As I was commenting to a friend today, we could keep our children indoors, never go to social functions and have a bubble surrounding our homes, and STILL sickness would visit our bacteria-proof abodes. But I must admit that wintertime is the most trying, because it seems that the little angels catch EVERY virus like lint in a dryer.

And so I let the giggling continue, as it is music to my ears because the gigglers, as of late, have been somewhat subdued because of the flu. Besides, what is more melodious than a child's giggle? The only thing I know of is: two children and a baby giggling! :)
